This contemporary residence suggest two volume that
are separated by void. One is a volume that is mostly stairways exept
at the top level which has a study suite. The other volume is where the
house is really is. And connecting the two volume is a cantilevered wooden
bridge. When one moves from area to area, one is crossing a treshold of
two axes, of form and function. On the ground level a curved maple screen
was constructed to shield the kitchen from the dining area. It enclosed
the kitchen on one axis, but left it opened on the other. On the second
floor a gallery was established with displayed niches and recessed light
inside it. the third floor is devoted to a private retreat including the
spaces for bedroom, bathroom, office, and library. And a jacuzzi sits
in the bay window.
